1. Scope and Summary
This Privacy Policy explains how Find Your Learning, LLC (FYL, we, us, or our) collects, uses, discloses, and retains personal information when you visit or use FindYourLearning.community and its website, map, directory, and community features (collectively, the Service). It applies to visitors, adult Account holders, community contributors, persons who claim Provider Listings, and persons identified in public-source Listing materials or contacted about an FYL-Created Listing.
FYL is designed to help adults find homeschool and learning-related options. We collect information needed to operate the Service, moderate community content, process Community Flyers, research and maintain FYL-Created Listings, contact listed organizations, provide location-based search and statewide Welcome groups, support public and Private Events, display Provider-posted Deals, and accept optional, one-time Support Payments. We do not sell personal information, display advertising, or use advertising trackers.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide
Account and consent information. We collect your email address, display or family name, sign-in method, and records of your acceptance of terms and content-sharing notices. Those records may include a user identifier, timestamp, version number, and a hash tied to an archived exact copy of the text presented. If you register with a password, FYL's authentication provider stores a protected password hash. FYL does not receive your plain-text password. If you use Google sign-in, Google provides authentication information according to your Google settings.
Age registration. We collect the age information or adult-age confirmation presented during registration to determine whether a person may create an Account. Accounts are limited to persons at least 18 years old.
Profile and family preferences. You may provide a ZIP code, search radius, state, and optional child age-range categories, such as 7 to 10, to personalize map results. When your state is first set, FYL derives it from the ZIP code and uses it to add the Account to that state's Welcome group. After that, the Homeschooling state field controls Welcome group membership, and a later ZIP change does not move the Account between Welcome groups. The age ranges are associated with the adult Account and are not displayed to other users by default.
User Content and activity. We collect information you submit or generate through Listings, Community Flyers, public images, public and Private Events, groups, posts, comments, public Provider questions and answers, reactions, follows, RSVPs, requests to join groups or access Private Events, and reports. Content selected for display is visible as described when it is submitted or approved. A Community Flyer image selected as a Listing photo is visible to signed-in users. Organizer-selected Private Event details and join or access requests are disclosed only within the feature and to persons who need them, subject to the limitations in this Policy and the Terms.
Provider claims, inquiries, and Deals. If you claim a Listing, we collect the Provider's business name, your contact email, claim status, and information used to send and confirm a verification code. A claim confirms control through that email process. It is not a credential or background check. If Deals are offered, we also collect Provider-entered Deal information. We also collect information a family submits through a Provider inquiry.
Public-source Listing information. For an FYL-Created Listing, we collect neutral factual details from the listed organization's own public materials. The record may include the organization's name, public venue or business address, website, event or program details, an adult's business name or title, publicly listed business contact information, the source URL or file, and collection and review dates. We do not include personal information about a child or nonpublic personal information in an FYL-Created Listing. We do not use a photograph or logo for an unclaimed place or organization Listing unless the organization supplies it or authorizes its use.
Support Payments. Stripe collects payment, billing, device, and fraud-prevention information when you make an optional, one-time Support Payment. FYL receives transaction information such as the amount, date, status, and processor or receipt identifiers. FYL does not receive your complete payment-card number.
Communications and requests. We collect information you include in support, privacy, accessibility, safety, copyright, refund, and other communications, together with records of our response.
Information collected automatically
FYL and its service providers collect technical information needed to deliver and secure the Service. This may include IP address, request time, browser and device type, operating system, pages or features requested, referring page, session identifiers, and security or error logs. FYL's hosting and security providers maintain standard server logs. FYL does not use those logs to build advertising profiles.
If you enable browser notifications, we collect a push-subscription endpoint, device or browser information, notification preferences, and information needed to deliver the notification. Your browser's push service may receive information under its own privacy terms.
3. Flyers, Images, and Automated Processing
When a member uploads a Community Flyer, FYL first removes embedded image metadata and then may use an automated service provided by Anthropic to read the image and extract text and listing details. FYL may also process a publicly posted event flyer selected for an FYL-Created Listing after recording permission or another documented, item-specific lawful basis covering that processing. The stripped image, its visible text, and the instructions needed to perform that task are transmitted directly to Anthropic through its commercial API. Automated output may be inaccurate. A human moderator reviews the proposed Listing and any proposed flyer image before display. An event flyer image selected by FYL is displayed only if the recorded permission or item-specific basis also covers that display.
Community Flyers often contain Provider contact information, including names, email addresses, phone numbers, dates, and locations that a Provider or organizer placed in a public source. That information remains personal information even when publicly available. FYL may use the information to create a proposed Listing, display approved Listing details and an approved flyer image to signed-in users, notify the Provider or organizer that the flyer was shared, invite the Provider to claim or correct the Listing, and address a rights, privacy, safety, or accuracy concern.
FYL may use a business email address published in an organization's own public materials to notify the organization that FYL created a Listing and invite it to claim, correct, or remove the Listing. We record the source, message status, response, and any opt-out needed to manage that outreach. Initial outreach is by email. FYL does not use a public telephone number for a marketing call or text without separate review and any legally required consent.
FYL removes embedded image metadata, including EXIF and GPS metadata, before storing or transmitting an image used in a flyer workflow. An image is rejected if the metadata-removal process fails. Community Flyer source images, authorized FYL-selected event-flyer sources, and displayed flyer-derived Listing photos are stored in private storage and served through time-limited links. After review, FYL may crop a flyer image to remove incidental background or framing. A Community Flyer image may be displayed as the Community-Shared Listing photo to signed-in users. An event flyer image FYL selected itself is processed or displayed only when the recorded permission or item-specific basis covers that use. FYL may omit or remove an image because of quality, rights, privacy, safety, or accuracy concerns. Logged-out visitors and search engines do not receive a flyer image through the Listing page, but an authorized viewer may still copy or reshare what the viewer can see. A photo a user uploads to the user's own Provider or group page may be displayed as selected by that user.
4. Location Information
FYL does not request your device's precise GPS location. If you enter a ZIP code, we store the ZIP code, an approximate map center and region derived from it, your state, and your selected search radius. These values help show nearby options, and the state derived from your first ZIP code is used once to assign the Account to that state's Welcome group.
Public locations may appear at a street address and precise map pin supplied for the Listing. For a Private Event, FYL may store the organizer-supplied address or other withheld location details but display only the town or general area until the organizer grants access. Submit an address only if it is yours to share or you have authority to provide it.
Mapbox provides map tiles, address search, and autocomplete. Search text and address keystrokes may be sent to Mapbox as you type, and Mapbox's software may send operational telemetry.
5. How We Use Information
We use personal information to:
- provide, personalize, maintain, and improve the Service and map;
- create and secure Accounts, authenticate users, and record assent;
- derive your state from a ZIP code and add an Account to that state's Welcome group;
- create, seed, publish, claim, correct, expire, and manage Listings, public and Private Events, Deals, and community features;
- process flyers and images, including automated extraction and human review;
- notify a Provider or organizer that a Community Flyer was shared or an FYL-Created Listing was created, invite the Provider to claim, correct, or remove the Listing, and honor outreach opt-outs;
- deliver notifications you request;
- review reports, moderate content, enforce policies, prevent fraud or abuse, and protect users, FYL, and the public;
- process Support Payments, refunds, accounting, and transaction records;
- respond to communications and privacy requests;
- debug, secure, measure, and operate the Service; and
- comply with law, preserve rights, and resolve disputes.
We may create aggregate or deidentified information that cannot reasonably identify an individual and use it for lawful purposes. We will not attempt to reidentify deidentified information except to test whether deidentification remains effective or as law permits.
6. How We Disclose Information
We may disclose information in the following circumstances:
Public and limited-visibility features. Listings, including the factual fields and public business contact information in an FYL-Created Listing, public images, public event details, public groups, posts, comments, Provider questions and answers, reactions, Deals, and other content selected for public display are visible to other users and may be indexed, copied, or reshared. Community Flyer images and authorized FYL-selected event flyer images used as Listing photos are displayed to signed-in users through time-limited links and are not provided through the Listing page to logged-out visitors or search engines. Private Event details, join requests, and access requests are disclosed within the feature to organizers, leaders, requesters, or other persons who need them. Visibility controls reduce exposure but cannot prevent an authorized recipient from copying or redisclosing information.
Service providers. We disclose information to providers that perform services for FYL, including Vercel for hosting; Supabase for database, authentication, and file storage; Mapbox for maps and address lookup; Cloudflare Turnstile for bot and abuse prevention; Google for optional sign-in; Anthropic for flyer-image processing; Resend for email delivery; Stripe for Support Payments; and Google, Apple, or Mozilla push services depending on the browser used. These providers process information under their own terms and their agreements with FYL.
Legal, safety, and enforcement. We may disclose information when we reasonably believe disclosure is required by law or legal process; needed to investigate or prevent fraud, security incidents, abuse, exploitation, or threats; needed to protect a person, FYL, or the public; or appropriate to enforce our agreements. This may include disclosure to law enforcement, courts, regulators, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, child-protection agencies, or persons involved in a claim.
Business transactions. Information may be disclosed in connection with due diligence for, or completion of, a merger, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, acquisition, insolvency, or similar transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality measures.
At your direction. We may disclose information with your consent or at your direction.
FYL does not sell personal information for money or other valuable consideration and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or use it for targeted advertising.
7. Cookies and Similar Technologies
FYL uses cookies, browser storage, and similar technologies needed for authentication, security, preferences, and core Service operation. Cloudflare Turnstile checks connections for bots and abuse. Mapbox and Google sign-in may store or access information needed to provide their features. Stripe may use cookies or similar technologies on a Support Payment page for payment and fraud prevention.
FYL does not currently use advertising cookies, cross-site advertising trackers, or third-party audience analytics. Browser settings may allow you to block or delete cookies, but doing so can prevent sign-in or other features from working.
There is no uniform industry response to the browser Do Not Track signal, and FYL does not respond to it. Because FYL does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, an opt-out preference signal such as Global Privacy Control does not change those practices. If an applicable law requires a response to such a signal, FYL will treat a valid signal as an opt-out request for the associated browser or device.
8. Adults Only and Children's Privacy
The Service and Accounts are intended for adults at least 18 years old. The Service is not directed to children under 13, children may not create Accounts, and FYL does not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child under 13.
An adult may choose optional family age-range categories. FYL does not request a child's name, birth date, exact age, direct contact information, school record, or exact home address for an Account profile. Age-range categories are not displayed to other users by default. An adult may post limited information about the adult's own child or a child the adult is authorized to represent, and may upload a child photograph only with permission from the child's parent or legal guardian. Users may not post another child's personal information without appropriate permission.
If FYL learns that an Account holder is under 18, or that FYL collected personal information directly from a child under 13 without legally sufficient authorization, FYL will close or restrict the Account and delete the information as required by law, subject to safety, legal, and record-preservation obligations. Contact privacy@findyourlearning.community with a concern.
9. Retention
FYL retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to provide the Service, maintain accurate public Listings, document consent and source records, honor outreach opt-outs, secure the platform, process payments, comply with law, and resolve disputes.
Account and profile information is generally retained while an Account remains active. If you schedule Account deletion, FYL keeps the Account during the 30-day grace period so that you can restore it. If you do not restore it, FYL automatically deletes the Account and information assigned to the deletion workflow at the end of that period. Public directory and Provider information may remain while a Listing is active or has continuing community value. An unclaimed FYL-Created event is removed from display after it ends, and another unclaimed FYL-Created Listing is reviewed periodically and may be retired when its source is stale or unavailable. A source record or expired event may remain in nonpublic storage until deleted in the ordinary course. Deleted information may persist in backups for a limited period. After an Account or Listing is deleted, FYL may keep aggregate counts, such as how many Listings of a type existed, that do not identify any person.
Consent records, source and image-authorization records, Provider outreach and suppression records, transaction records, moderation and safety records, DMCA records, security logs, and communications may be retained after Account closure or Listing removal when reasonably necessary for legal compliance, accounting, fraud prevention, enforcement, honoring an opt-out, or defense of claims. A legal hold or preservation request may extend an otherwise applicable period. FYL deletes or deidentifies information when it is no longer reasonably necessary, except that a limited suppression record may be retained while needed to prevent unwanted commercial email. Separately, if a Provider deleting an Account asks FYL to keep their business name on file, FYL retains the business name only, and uses it only to hold a future Listing for that business for review before it is published. The Provider may ask FYL to remove that record at any time by emailing privacy@findyourlearning.community.
10. Privacy Rights and Choices
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a portable copy of certain personal information; to opt out of a sale, targeted advertising, or certain profiling; to limit certain sensitive-data uses; to appeal a denied request; and to receive equal service without unlawful discrimination for exercising a right.
FYL does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. To submit a request, email privacy@findyourlearning.community and describe the request. FYL will verify the request in a manner reasonably related to the information at issue. Verification may include confirming control of the Account email, a business email published by the listed organization, or another organization-controlled channel. An authorized agent may submit a request where applicable law permits, but FYL may require proof of authority and direct verification with the person or organization concerned.
FYL will respond within the period required by applicable law. A request may be denied or limited when an exception applies, including when retention is needed for security, legal compliance, transaction completion, consent evidence, freedom of expression, or defense of claims. Instructions for an available appeal will be included in a denial when required.
You may disable browser notifications through your browser or device settings. You may select Delete my account in Account settings to schedule deletion. You may restore the Account through the available one-click restoration flow during the 30-day grace period. Restoration cancels the scheduled deletion. At the end of the grace period, FYL automatically deletes the Account and information assigned to the deletion workflow, subject to retention needed for security, legal compliance, consent evidence, transaction records, safety, legal holds, and defense of claims. Email privacy@findyourlearning.community for another privacy request or if you cannot use the Account controls.
A listed organization or person identified in an FYL-Created Listing may request correction or removal without an Account by emailing privacy@findyourlearning.community or support@findyourlearning.community. A recipient may also use the opt-out method in a Provider outreach email to stop further promotional email. FYL may retain the minimum information needed to honor that request and prevent renewed outreach.
11. Security
FYL uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed for the nature and sensitivity of the information handled. Measures include managed authentication, access controls, protected storage, metadata stripping for images, bot protection, and human review before a flyer-based Listing or image is displayed. No security measure can eliminate all risk, and FYL cannot guarantee absolute security.
If FYL identifies a security incident involving personal information, FYL will investigate and provide notices required by applicable law. You are responsible for keeping Account credentials confidential and notifying FYL promptly of suspected unauthorized access.
12. Processing in the United States
The Service is offered for use in the United States. FYL and its service providers may process and store information in the United States and other locations where they operate, subject to applicable law and contractual protections.
13. Third-Party Links and Services
The Service links to Providers and other websites or services that FYL does not control. This Policy does not govern a third party's collection or use of information. Review the third party's privacy terms before providing information or completing a transaction.
14. Changes to This Policy
FYL may update this Policy to reflect changes in the Service, law, or data practices. FYL will post the updated Policy and change the Last Updated date. FYL will provide additional notice or obtain consent when required by law. FYL will not apply a materially broader use of previously collected personal information retroactively without notice and consent when required.
